Why Is a Good Family Important to a Child?
Family is the most essential influence in the life of a child. From the very first moment of life, children depend on their family to provide for the necessities and protect them. Parents are the ones forming the first relationships of the child. They represent the first teachers of a child and usually act as a role model in how to experience everything around them. By teaching children during the first year of their lives, families play a crucial role in making certain children will be ready when they`ll start going to school. Children often thrive when parents can promote their positive development and growth in an active manner. Each parents is aware that sometimes it`s hard to do this essential work without additional resources, help or support.
What Is the Role of the Families in Early Childhood Education?
Parenting represents the involvement process of the family which includes values, practices and attitudes of parents in their attempt to raise their children. Responsive parent-child relationships, nurturing and warm, along with parental participation in child-centered activities, they all relate to positive learning results in early childhood.
The behaviors of children are learned by observing patterns or models in the family or society. A study performed recently has shown that in a kindergarten, children who assisted in a show to an actor who had a violent and aggressive behavior to a doll made of plastic, have shown in the following days a more aggressive behavior to their dolls and toys, compared with other children who didn`t participated to the respective show. After 8 months, 40% of the children from the experimental group had an aggressive behavior similar to the one presented in the show. From this, we can notice how important is the example from the ones around us. All that can be seen around us can affect profoundly a child, but he`ll suffer a lot less if he feels safe and trust his parents. But if he sees improper behaviors in someone he truly trusts (parents, brothers, relatives), then the influence will be a lot bigger on him.
The direction towards the child walks is drawn from the family, which is where his ideal will be formed. This forms even from the childhood until adolescence. Therefore, where the relationships between his parents have been harmonious, the ideal of the adolescence includes a model that is similar to the one of his parents.
A child who didn`t received a proper education from all points of view will suffer during adulthood, or maybe during his entire life if he doesn`t have a strong native character to self-educate. Relational gaps, complexes, emotional fluctuations and all the other internal issues of the human being are large a consequence of faulty family education. Someone who was raised by some parents who didn`t had time to talk to him, to encourage him or listen to his needs, will find it hard to understand the extrovert of a person around his friends or at work, or the altruism with which he`s manifesting in society. He`ll find it difficult to adapt.
The responsibility of a parent for the education of his child is a huge one. The majority of situations of non-adjustment, addiction, perversion, depression, suicide or delinquency among youngsters (and necessarily the only ones) have as substrate the lack of a healthy education.
Family`s Role in the Child`s Education
As already mentioned by now, the family`s role in the child`s education is very important. The family represents the primordial matrix of a human being`s culture. Here is the place where the latent powers of the personal soul are awakened and developed. Family education don`t just offer children academic guidance that involves their school-related work, but also more essentially offers extra-curricular assistance on social and cultural values taught by parents. Also, family education plays a crucial role in aiding the spiritual and moral development of the child and encouraging the eagerness to learn and natural curiosity of the child. Here is where the child becomes a small human being, from who later develops a great personality or a small delinquent.
Within the family is the place where everything begins and is first learned. If the child doesn`t learn to love in the family from his parents, where he`ll learn to love? If he didn`t learned even from his childhood how to look for his happiness in mutual happiness, in what vicious behaviors he`ll look for it when reaching adulthood? Children assimilate and imitate everything.
The main condition for children to get a proper education is the ability of the parents to do it, and at the very same time, the intensity and honesty of the love between the parents. But will this mean that every child who didn`t receive a proper education is condemned socially and spiritually? It seems that it all depends on the child`s power of self-education, but also on the persons they come into contact with. Persons who come into contact with young persons, who had such an education during childhood, tend to judge them, but the solution is to help them integrate, proving patience and altruism. In turn, they`ll receive the other one`s happiness as stimulant for his own happiness.
How Do You Educate your Child?
The way parents behave with their children will dramatically affect the way the child behaves in society. Severe parents will for a young person without personality, will, initiative (only in the case of a very strong nervous system we assist to the formation of an anarchic spirit in the family or society. The parents that will spoil the child will have a young person who doesn`t learn, who doesn`t work, but always has something to claim (some of them become delinquents). The parents who denote educational inconsistency, which oscillates between severity and indulgence, will form a young person who is disoriented, difficult, stubborn and capricious in his social relationships.
The education of children presupposes before everything the development of our own education, our own feelings. Parents need to struggle to demonstrate a perfect morality, integrity and education, being the trainers of a generation, so children can follow them as a model. When attempting to educate our children, we first need to educate ourselves. Obviously, warmth in a family educates a lot better than all the words in the world and, on the contrary, the anomalous words of parents get exact the opposite effect.
Then, education starts from the moment of the child`s conception. Even from the mother`s womb, she`ll attempt to carefully transmit her feelings of affection and calmness, but also a healthy diet, this having an essential role in his development. The impressions received by the baby during pregnancy in his mother`s womb determines his physical and affective state. It should be noted that every screaming, any dirty words will already defile the child. They`ll already “grave” in his heart already from the womb the images of vices and sufferings. A behavior full of affection of the mother is essential for the formation of the feeling of social communion. It favors communication, collaboration and altruistic acts. The basis of this feeling is the relationship with the mother, the reciprocal affection between a child and his mother.
Why Parental Involvement in School Is Important?
Ongoing studies outline that family engagement in schools restores the confidence of parents in the children`s education, reduces absenteeism and improves student achievement. Students who benefited their parents` involvement show improved behavior, have better social abilities and earn higher test scores and grades.
Choosing to become active in a parent group in school is an essential method of increasing involvement. Involvement comprises as well:
- Setting targets with children and encouraging achievement of those particular targets.
- Accessing and using the academic scores of the children to make sure they are on track.
- Often observing the parent portal.
- Building a relationship with the teachers and staying in close contact with them.
- Recommending for improvements with local school boards or even federal or state government to make sure schools have all the resources required to offer the best education to each and every child.
Still, the most important type of involvement a parent can have is at home. By close monitoring and observing, parents can stay engaged in lots of ways to make sure that the children benefit of each and every opportunity for success.
