  • Mistletoe: it triggers menstruation and stimulates uterine contractions; it`s not recommended during breastfeeding as it decreases the milk amount.
  • Junipers: they contain essential oil and has bitter substances with emenagog action.
  • Comfrey: it contains toxic substances which can easily reach the baby.
  • Lavender: it triggers menstruation and isn`t recommended during lactation as it may decrease milk secretion.
  • Thyme: it triggers the menstrual cycle and is considered to be a stimulant.
  • Basil: it triggers the menstrual cycle and stimulates uterine contractions.
  • Salvia: it`s an uterine stimulant due to its estrogenic substances and contains bitter substances; it isn`t recommended during breastfeeding as it reduces the amount of milk.
  • Anise: it stimulates contractions.

What Do Experts Say About Forbidden Teas While Pregnant?

Most nutritionists cannot agree when it comes to tea consumption while expecting a baby. If some encourage women to drink tea while pregnant without exceeding certain doses, other ones believe that only a small number of herbal teas and infusions are allowed during the 9 months of pregnancy. Some experts in herbs believe that most of the time, teas are beneficial and safe while expecting as long as the recommended doses aren`t exceeded. They say that in order to assume no risk, it`s maybe best to drink fruit juices, as they have vitamin C, they calm thirst, and help with the digestion and constipation. As it already almost common knowledge by now, there are plants which calm some pregnancy signs and other ones that might harm either the mother or the fetus.
